Big Change

This is to let everyone know that between May and August, I will be leaving the Sunshine State for good. There are many reasons for this...however, the main reason is economics. Originally, the dept. allowed me to be registered as an instate student (one of the reasons I decided to come down here). Well, apparently, they found out that they could not do that any longer...and no one notified me of this because I just found out Friday...so, I am having to pay a huge amount in tuition, I have no financial aid resources for the semester because of it (a major factor in a decision to take a second job...I will be working 10-20 hours on the weekend at Panera Bread Co. in addition to my 14 hour days on campus teaching and taking classes), and, let's just face it--that ain't good, to use my superb English skills. The normal response has been: well, next semester you will be instate, right? True. But this has broken the bank and I am officially done in every sense of the word.

It was a very hard decision, but it is the right decision because the only thing this is leading to is more debt. I just want to live my life, be happy, pay my bills, etc. So, I am on the job market, officially. I have already contacted several people; and, hopefully, something will come about soon. I am obligated to stay here until May, but I will be leaving between then and August depending on what jobs are available. So, keep me in your thoughts as I enter the brutal world of unemployment.

Wow! That really sucks about the financial aid business. Those people really need to get it together. I hope you are able to find satisfying gainful employment. What exactly are you looking for? Good Luck!

Susie, you need to check out the N.C. State library website. They have a job their that is a 3 year position. That way you know you are going to leave, so you can stick it out. Plus its in raleigh which is a great place to live. Real job, benefits the works..I looked into earlier in Jan.
